Heavy rains and floods have disrupted telecommunications across Pakistan, affecting 4,349 sites, authorities said, while restoration work has successfully revived 4,137 sites, leaving 212 still under repair.
According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) sources, the remaining 212 affected sites are all located in Punjab, where teams are working tirelessly to restore services and minimize disruption to users.
Officials explained that rising water levels have caused power outages and electrical issues at several sites, which has slowed down restoration efforts despite continuous monitoring by PTA and telecom companies.
The authorities confirmed that teams are in constant contact with repair crews to ensure mobile and internet services remain operational in affected areas, prioritizing uninterrupted communication for residents and businesses.
Earlier, PTA had announced on August 16 that it was closely monitoring telecom networks in flood-hit areas, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to maintain service continuity and support emergency response efforts.
Officials emphasized that all necessary measures are being taken to restore the remaining sites, assuring citizens that full service will be reinstated soon, and teams continue working around the clock to complete repairs.
