ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday lodged a strong protest with India over the unprovoked ceasefire violation by its occupation forces in Chirikot sector along the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday, resulting in the martyrdom of a 75-year-old woman.
Foreign Office summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh and condemned the incident. It was shared that despite calls for restraint, India continues to indulge in ceasefire violations.
The Indian diplomat was informed that deliberate targeting of civilians was indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws. A statement quoting the FO said that ceasefire violations by India were a threat to regional peace and security and might lead to a strategic miscalculation.
JP Singh was asked that India should respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement, investigate incidents of ceasefire violations and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
Meanwhile talking to the media, Foreign Office criticised India for not granting visas to children for medical treatment in Indian hospitals.
Flanked by a child, Osama Ali who got cured of lever cancer in Turkey, the FO spokesman said that India insulted the human rights by rejecting Osama’s visa for medical treatment.
The authorities of Health Department were in touch with their Turkish counterparts to help make it easy for Pakistani patients to proceed to Turkey for medical treatment in near future.
“India has tried to link human rights issue to Held Kashmir. Indian forces could blind innocent Kashmiris by excessive and illegal use of pellet guns but could grant visa to children for medical treatment,” he added.
An elderly woman was killed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) after being hit by a single shot fired by an Indian soldier from across the Line of Control (LoC), officials had said.
Imam Bibi, wife of Sher Wali, was busy in household chores in the courtyard of her home in the Polas Kakuta village of Abbaspur sector when she received a fatal gunshot wound in her neck at about 3pm, Raja Tahir Mumtaz, deputy commissioner of Poonch district, had said.
Polas Kakuta is located in the closest proximity of the heavily militarised LoC, which has been witnessing frequent ceasefire violations by India in serious breach of a 14-year truce agreement between the armies of India and Pakistan.
