LAHORE: Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Punjab on Wednesday has removed Asma Hamid from the designation of Advocate General Punjab.
However, she will keep serving as the Additional Advocate General Punjab.
Additional Advocate General Shan Gull has been given an interim charge of Advocate General.
Sources reported that Imtiaz Siddiqui is expected to be appointed to the office.
Former CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif appointed Asma to the designation two days before the end of his government’s tenure.
Pakistan Tekreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry has appreciated the decision and said that she was appointed during the last few days of PML-N’s government and removing her from the office is the right decision.
Chaudhry also demanded the dismissal of district officials of Punjab.
Earlier, PTI showed its reservations on Asma Hamid’s appointment as Advocate General Punjab through a letter to Chief election Commissioner and interim CM Punjab.
